Dear Friends,
The apostle Paul expressed my feelings well when he said, “I thank my God in all my remembrance of you” (Philippians 1:3). When I think of you, when I think of your faithful giving, prayers, and encouragement, I realize we could not do this ministry without you! And we could not do it without the power and direction of Christ.
This month, Morgan Jackson from Faith Comes By Hearing will return with stories about the Audio Bible devices our donors have provided for millions of people around the world.
First, we visit Ecuador. You have heard about how, in 1965, 5 missionaries were speared to death trying to bring the gospel to an unreached tribe called Waorani. We will tell you what happened.
Then, we will take you to Nigeria where 50,000 or more Christians and others have been killed, and nearly 10,000 churches have been attacked or destroyed. But you will hear that people are making decisions to follow Jesus despite the persecution as they hear and respond to God’s Word on the Proclaimers.
From there we talk about the 2 billion people in the 8 countries of South Asia where just a few Christians [roughly 2-7% of the population are Christian] are presenting the Word of God through Audio Bibles. Yet people are responding to the gospel and are passing the good word along to family and neighbors.
Then we will devote a special program to Mama Anet, Morgan’s mother, who conceived the whole idea of a dramatized version of the Bible specifically so it would appeal to children.
You will hear about a young child in school in Peru who listened to Jesus healing the woman “with the issue of blood” and took Jesus’ message to heart, because his own mother who needed healing. He ran home and put his hands on his mother’s stomach and prayed for her, and she was healed.
Next, Morgan will relate the compelling story of a young man in the Andes Mountains of Peru. We will tell you about Romulo Saune, who desired to translate the Bible into his own heart language so that 21 million of his own people could hear the gospel.
Following that, we will take you to Cuba, where 10 million people lack many things and are also suffering from blindness or poor eyesight. How can they learn what Jesus has to say if they cannot hear it?
We will take you to South Asia to tell you about how God is using a woman called Benita who gave up her worship of multiple gods and goddesses and is spreading the gospel.
Then we will finish our series with stories of how Mama Anet went to over 40 countries, even dangerous places, around the world to ensure that the living Word of God would be available in the heart language of every nation, tribe, and people.
These are stories of people who have given their lives so others could hear the gospel. And you are part of what they started. To date, you, our donors, have funded enough Audio Bibles that 21 million people are hearing, responding, and learning from God’s Word in their own language.
Approximately half of them have accepted Christ as their Savior as a result of hearing God’s Word. I believe God will reward you when we get to heaven and introduce you people who accepted Christ because you provided Audio Bibles for them.
But there are still billions of people in our turbulent world who have little or no access to God’s Word in any form. If they cannot hear, they cannot respond, and they cannot take that step of faith to accept Jesus’ gift of salvation.
So, please don’t forget that we have two very generous donors who will match any Proclaimer you fund while we are airing these programs. That means if you give one, each of them will also give one, and you will be giving three! If you give four, they will each provide four and you will be giving 16 Audio Bibles. Take advantage of their generosity now, and mark the enclosed card with the most generous gift you can while this double match opportunity is in place.
But what else can you do? Could I encourage you to continue to give some gift on a monthly basis so that Audio Bibles can be sent out? Each Audio Bible reaches 90 people on average. Of those 90 people, on average half, or about 45 people, , make a decision to follow Christ. All 90 will continue to listen, and continue to grow in their faith.
In addition, we have a generous donor who has graciously agreed that, even after the program is over, even after the double match opportunity is over, when you fund a Proclaimer, he will match that gift and provide another.
If you should be so bold as to fund one each month, he will match your gift every month! Think of how many people will hear as a result! My trusty calculator says that would mean (90 people X 2) 180 more people who would be given the opportunity to hear! Does that seem worth it to you? It does to me.
Then, may I also ask you to consider giving any size gift to support the ministry of The John Ankerberg Show coming into your home and going around the world? While we have been heavily promoting the Audio Bibles (for obvious reasons), that’s not all we do.
We also bring scholars in to answer the questions that skeptics ask, and provide valuable content to help strengthen your own faith. We explain to you why Jesus can be trusted; why truth is truth; why what you think matters.
Our TV program airs not just in in the United States and in Canada, but in all other countries but Communist China. But to continue, we need your help. Airtime and production costs continue to rise. And we need your help and prayers.
So, please pray about what God would have you do, not only to provide Audio Bibles, but also to help us continue to present and defend God’s Word by way of television, radio, and the internet.
The Lord lovingly died for our sins and wants His gospel spread to the whole world while we wait for His return.
Help us tell others about Jesus until He returns.
