Happy Mother's Day from Darlene Ankerberg

Ankerberg 2022 26

I don’t think God created any job as important as that of “Mother.” We, the moms and
grandmothers, have the primary responsibility of teaching our children about who God is,
and how He wants them to live. We do that not only by our words but by our actions.

If that sounds like a daunting task, I can tell you from experience that it is! But it is also
extremely rewarding! There’s some something about seeing your child grow up to be a firm
follower of Jesus Christ that is better than all the riches in the world.

I’m so thankful for my mother and grandmother, who poured into my life with their words,
their actions and their prayers. I’m thankful for my daughter, who continues to live for
Christ every day.

I’d like to especially encourage moms who are struggling with hard times. Maybe you are
dealing with a rebellious child. I want you to know that God knows what you are going
through. He knows the struggles you face. And He has promised to be there with you every
step of the way. “He will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:8).

Remember, in Galatians 6:9 the apostle Paul encourages us to “not become weary in doing
good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” So, moms, hang in
there. Rejoice in your victories. Take your defeats to the foot of the cross. And continue to
be that strong leader, that example to your kids, with the prayer that one day (maybe not
today, teen-mom!), your kids will “rise up and call [you] blessed” (Proverbs 31:28)!

Happy Mother’s Day!
