Erwin went to Marx’s tomb in London, and then to Moody’s tomb in Massachusetts. He talked about the clash of worldviews these men had, from their unique beginnings to their vastly different legacies. It is a wonderful video with a lot of information. It is available for a gift of $20.

Now, why have we taped a TV series on these two men? First, it is an amazing story of how God used Moody to preach to more than 100-150 million people across the United States and Great Britain in the 1880s and led hundreds of thousands to a saving knowledge of Christ.

But Dr. Lutzer also talks about the fact that Karl Marx still rules much of the world from his grave through his writings.

This will be a very interesting series as we move toward the mid-term elections in America.

What I am concerned about is our country and the direction we are going. We need leaders with good ideas, because all ideas have consequences. Further, I know what God has said in Scripture about the kind of values in leaders He will bless.

I’ve grown up and lived in a free country. I’ve been able to hold debates and produce TV programs with brilliant scholars and people of different beliefs for 50 years. I value the words from America’s Declaration of Independence:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. That to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

To me these words are the reason why every Christian should vote. We should vote for leaders whose character comes closest to what God says in Scripture.

In our TV programs with Dr. Lutzer, besides comparing the lives of these two men, we will talk about how Marx taught six lies in the Communist Manifesto.

Lie #1 – When private property is abolished, equality will result. His premise was, if no one owned anything, conflicts and wars would end.

Is that biblical? No! The Bible says, “You shall not steal.”

Lie #2 – Marx does away with all religion. He said that the same faith that you have in God has to be transferred to the state. That’s why communism closes churches. Marx didn’t want any rivals to the state.

The deadly consequences of his view can be seen in how Marxism was applied to many countries in the world. The Soviet Union systematically destroyed thousands of churches, executed clergy, and promoted militant state atheism. Communism was also promoted in China, Vietnam, Laos, and Cuba. It either prohibited officially, restricted, or required state registration for any permitted religious organizations.

Lie #3 – The family must be abolished. Marx believed parents exploited their children by teaching them about God and fixed morality. Marx contended that children should belong to and be educated by the state; parents could not be trusted to educate their own children.

Lie #4 – There are no eternal truths such as freedom, justice, etc., because communism abolishes eternal truths. It abolishes all religion, and all morality.

Marx believed there is no God giving humanity universal laws; all laws and human rights are created by the state and can be taken away by the state as it sees fit.

Lie #5 – Marx believed a violent revolution was needed to overthrow the existing order and to establish the rulership of the working class. How many people have been killed by Marxist philosophy? At Google it states: “Credible estimates range from 80 to 110 million people. And up to 150 million people in broader counts.”

Lie # 6 – Marx taught that there must be a borderless world.

Marxist advocate for no borders – something that today’s socialists still contend for. He surely knew this would result in the killing of untold multitudes, but it was the price to be paid for liberation of the world.
