FROM THE DESK OF JOHN

I thought of Scripture’s admonition, “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank Him for all He has done” (Philippians 4:6).

Can I tell you what I am thankful for? First, Jesus; second, my family; third you. The John Ankerberg Show wouldn’t exist without you. Yes, you!

Let me tell you a few of the things God has accomplished through you because of your gifts and prayers.

First, there are the Audio Bibles that you and other of our donors have provided. Right now, 21,823,782 million people are in listening groups in 93 countries listening to the Bible in 1,501 different languages.

About half, or 11 million, of those people accepted Christ as their Savior the very first year. Now, after eight years of listening, more people have accepted Christ each year as these Audio Bibles have been shared with other family members and friends in other villages. Jesus said, “Go and preach the gospel to every person,” and that is what you have done and are continuing to do. Thank you.

Second, Darlene and I have traveled to the other side of the world to preach at pastor’s conferences. In talking with pastors, I realized they knew how to lead people to Christ but did not know how to teach their people to follow Christ and live the Christian life.

I decided to make a discipleship program for them and translate it into their languages. With another pastor who had grown up in that culture, we made 40 half hour teaching lessons and then taught them on TV together. It took us four years to make, and another year to translate it into four languages.

I gave it to the national pastors we were working with, and expected 500 pastors to attend the first 40 weeks. They would listen to the TV programs and then spend one hour discussing how the biblical information had convicted them in their own life and how they were going to teach this to their people.

To our surprise 9,000 pastors came to learn how to disciple their people. Forty weeks later we had seen 100% participation, and gave out certificates to all those who had completed the course.

We are now 10 weeks into the second cycle of 40 weeks, and 27,000 pastors came. We expect 50,000 pastors or church leaders to attend the next 40-week cycle.

We have not told you about this project because the pastors could go to jail if discovered. This is the hand of God that is bringing these pastors to learn God’s Word. I only ask you to pray that God teaches them and picks out those He wants to be full-time pastors, missionaries, or evangelists. The testimonies we have received of changed lives are absolutely thrilling.

Third, I am thankful for your support of our television programs. We pay a lot for the airtime and production so that our programs can come into your home each week. Our great guests include Anne Graham Lotz, Lee Strobel, Frank Turek, Dr. Erwin Lutzer, scientist Stephen Meyer, astronomer Hugh Ross, prophecy scholars Mark Hitchcock, Jeff Kinley, Todd Hampson, and so many others. These Christian scholars are some of the best we have in Christianity.

If your desire is to win non-Christians to the Lord, to encourage Christians, or provide Bibles for people who have never had one in their own language, then join us in doing this and reaching the world. I continually thank God for every donor who, despite rising costs for food, gas, diesel, and so much more, continues to support our ministry so we can fulfill the work God has entrusted to us. God is using you in a powerful way. And know that we are grateful for every gift, regardless of the amount.

Now, recently a man called and asked, “Can I give gifts to your ministry and receive a receipt for stocks, bonds, and property?” Yes! You may give any part of your legacy, including gold, silver, or other precious metals. Just call our office and we will direct you to the right person.

In the last two years two of our most generous donors who helped us when new opportunities arose passed away. They had only given $30 a month for over 10 years, but when I stopped by to see them, they surprised me and gave me $200,000. Later they would give $500,00 and even more.

That is part of the reason we have been able to reach people all over the world. I need two men or women to take their place. Those people can call and hear all the details right from me.

Fourth, we just started on God TV stations all over the world on Sunday at 9:00 A.M. and 9.P.M. in each country. So, if you’re in Australia or in England, our program is on there at 9:00 A.M. and 9 P.M. Whatever country it airs in, it will be at 9:00 A.M. and 9 P.M. that country’s time. The new technology is wonderful and helps us reach more people with the gospel.

Some of you may be watching Dr. Erwin Lutzer talk about two contemporaries, D. L. Moody and Karl Marx, who lived at the same time, but brought different ideas to the table to solve society’s problems. Moody preached to over 100 million people, and Karl Marx’s ideas eventually killed between 100-150 million people in the world.

After that we will be inviting Morgan Jackson to tell you the countries where we are going to bring Audio Bibles. These are people who have never heard the gospel and have never had a Bible in their own language. So please help us.
