Teachers

When we drop our children off at school, we hand them over to the influence and supervision of their teachers. How they teach lessons and engage with their students will have a large impact on our children this year. They have the potential to be an incredible blessing to our children, but they can also create many difficulties.   

Below are some passages from Scripture to guide your time of praying for your children’s teachers. 

Father, may you grant wisdom to those who teach my children and give them a heart like Yours for their students.

Proverbs 31:25-26 NLT

She is clothed with strength and dignity,

    and she laughs without fear of the future.

When she speaks, her words are wise,

    and she gives instructions with kindness.

James 3:17 NIV 

The wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. 

Galatians 5:22-23 NIV

The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

May they serve as a good example for my children to imitate. 

Titus 2:7-8 NLT

You yourself must be an example to them by doing good works of every kind. Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness of your teaching. Teach the truth so that your teaching can’t be criticized.

Philippians 3:17 NIV

Join together in following my example, brothers and sisters, and just as you have us as a model, keep your eyes on those who live as we do.

Father, I ask that You would provide them with joy and energy today. Protect them from growing weary.

Galatians 6:9 NIV

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

Isaiah 40:28-29

The Lord is the everlasting God,

    the Creator of all the earth.

He never grows weak or weary.

    No one can measure the depths of his understanding.

He gives power to the weak

    and strength to the powerless.

Lord, I pray that my child’s teacher would focus on things that are pleasing to You and beneficial to their students.

Philippians 4:8 NIV 

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.

May they lead the classroom in a way that brings joy and wellbeing to their students. If they do not yet know you, I ask that they would come to trust in You as their Savior. 

1 Timothy 2:1-6 NLT

I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them; intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them. Pray this way for kings and all who are in authority so that we can live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity.  This is good and pleases God our Savior, who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth. For,

There is one God and one Mediator who can reconcile God and humanity—the man Christ Jesus. He gave his life to purchase freedom for everyone.
