Do you remember having the “sex talk” with your kids? (Or do you remember when your mom or dad sat you down for it?) Uncomfortable, right? As parents, we’d rather not talk about sex, and we’d sure rather our kids didn’t learn about it until they are much older (about 30?).
But why is it so critically important for parents to talk about sex to their children? It’s because many of our public schools, starting in kindergarten, are teaching our children non-biblical sexual ideas. They are being taught things God explicitly forbids (See Leviticus 18:1-31).
On television this month we will be starting a new series entitled “Teaching Your Kids About God’s Plan for Sexuality,” based on the book Mama Bear Apologetics Guide to Sexuality.
Who are Mama Bears? How does this title relate to your children? Well, if you walk in the woods and you see a baby bear, don’t run over to pet her. Why? Because close by might be the cub’s big mama bear. If she thinks you will hurt her cub, you’ll be in big trouble. The ladies who wrote this book think of Christian mothers watching over their children as Mama Bears. They do not want anyone hurting their children in the area of sex.
Our guests who will help guide us through the damaging information being taught about sexuality in 40% of our public schools are, first, Hillary Morgan Ferrer, who has a Master’s Degree in biology specializing in Scientific Apologetics, dealing with doubt, and identifying causes and solutions for youth leaving the church.
Second, Amy Davison, an Air Force veteran turned writer who holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Religion from Liberty University, and a MA in Christian Apologetics from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.
And third, Lindsey Medenwaldt, who has a Master’s Degree in Ethics and Apologetics from Denver Seminary, another Master’s Degree in Public Administration, an earned Law Degree, and is an Adjunct Professor at Northwestern College in Iowa.
They will talk about what you should do to help your kids develop and live by God’s standards when it comes to sex. They’ll explain why it’s important for you to talk to your kids before they hear about it from someone else.
We’ll talk about who is behind some of the material that is being taught in 40% or more of our public schools. We will talk about worldview, and why having a correct one is important.
You may use the enclosed card to request the seven programs in this series, along with our guests’ book, Mama Bear Apologetics Guide to Sexuality. It’s a great book.
Now, regarding our programs with Morgan Jackson from Faith Comes By Hearing, I am excited to tell you that we now have over 19.6 million people, in 83 countries, listening in 253 languages. They are regularly interacting with God’s Word via Audio Bibles you have given, and they are growing in their faith.
We know that about half of those who have heard God’s Word in their own language have come to faith in Christ! Please continue to pray for these dear people.
Let me close by saying thank you for supporting our ministry. We exist to defend the Christian faith, encourage the believer, and challenge the skeptic through the various outlets God has given us. But we cannot do this without you! So, thank you.
Until the whole world hears,
John and Darlene
